Please donate to my fundraiser for the Lance Armstrong Foundation: HERE

Hey there readers,

So just like that 10-10 has come to a close. As a recap for those just tuning in, I have been running 10 miles a day for 10 days in honor of those that have passed, are still fighting or conquered cancer.

Each day I ran in honor of someone. There is a brief recap below of each day yet to read more about each, please click on their names below or just scroll down in my blog.

This was a way for me to kick off my fundraising campaingn for TEAM LIVESTRONG which I will be a part of during the Chicago Marathon on 10-10-10.

10-10 came from making a connection to the actual race date of the marathon. I started this journey on August 20th (10+10). Each day I also had a hydration goal of 100 ounces of water a day to make sure to nourish well through the entire process.

Overall this entire experience was truly uplifting, emotional and a joy for me. Below is a recap of the 10 days. I have added in a few extra elements as these were along for the ride as well...
DAY #1: Eugene A. DeWitt (my step-father), Pancreatic Cancer, Run 1:37.06, 10 miles
DAY #2: Leslie Wayne Mitton (amazing friend to me, father, husband), Prostate Cancer, Run 1:35.13, 10 miles // run 4 miles, Bar Method Boulder
DAY #3: Anne Holland (my grandma), Breast Cancer, Run 1:34.14, 10 miles // Bar Method Boulder
DAY: #4: John Holland (my uncle), Stomach Cancer, Run 1:37.44, 10 miles // Bar Method Boulder
DAY #5: Samantha Minnis (our friend), Non-hodgkins Lymphoma, Run 1:35.40, 10 miles // Climbing with Kynan
DAY #6: Elexis Mariash (my sister), MALT Lymphoma, Run 1:34.03, 10 miles // Bar Method Boulder
DAY #7: Nathan Long (our friends friend), Brain Cancer, Run 1:31.19, 10 miles
DAY #8: Eddie Hall, (our friends friend), Esophageal Cancer, Run 1:25.09, 10 miles // Bar Method Downtown SF
DAY #9: Marla Swartz, (my mother-in-law), Breast Cancer, Run 1:24.00, 10 miles // Bar Method Marina
DAY #10: Lance Armstrong (athlete and founder of LAF), Testicular Cancer, Run 1:27.04, 10 miles

TOTAL: 100 miles // 10 days // 15 hours, 21 minutes, 32 seconds // 1,000 ounces of H2O

All in all I am extremely glad that I did this extra effort for those in my life. It was an extremely emotional experience at times. Through the process you learn about even more individuals who are fighting, conquered or lost someone due to Cancer. At times I am not sure how I physically could keep running and really feel like some higher energy helped me along.

Next up is the CHICAGO MARATHON where I will run the final 26.2 miles for TEAM LIVESTRONG. I cannot wait until this day. I will continue to recap each week on here as the training continues for the big day.

In closing I have purchased 10 livestrong bracelets that are individually stamped with the individuals names above. At the Marathon, I will run with all 10 on my wrists and then once I finish, I will ship the braceletes off to the person I ran for or a family member or friend that is close to that person that passed away.

Cheers and please donate to LAF at the link below to help to "provide support and to guide people through the cancer experience, bring them together to fight cancer - and work for a world in which our fight is no longer necessary."
