10-10-10! The training continues 4 weeks out.

Hey Folks,

This was yet another special week on the training books.

We traveled to Chicago this weekend to visit our great friend Marleen and run the Chicago Half Marathon with her. Well Kyle was the photographer.

Beyond that and a 4 mile run I took a mass and well deserved recovery week. I pushed it hard right from the get go and did it to allow myself to fully recover from being sick the week before and to give my legs a breather. In addition, with health warnings all over the news and the Boulder Fires, I was not in the mood to risk breathing in ash air. It is just not worth the internal consequences and I just couldn't get myself to run on the treddy after so many beautiful runs outside so I mixed it up a bit.

I ventured to the pool for the first time in 1.5 years and although I am totally out of shape, I enjoyed it and hope to put it back into my exercise regimen each week from hereon out.
I even found another Bar Method Studio nestled in about a mile away from our hotel. It was a rainy walk but well worth it.

We even made some time for some tourist walking to Navy Pier, and Millennium Park, and ate "wicked good" pizza from Giordano's for our pre-race meal...




Of course, I had to stop in for a LIVESTRONG moment...
And on race morning, after an adventurous cab ride to the start, Marleen PR'd in her Half Marathon. She was a total rock star and PR'd even with me making us stop for a bathroom break.
It was a great week and fun weekend. I feel refreshed and recovered to go back at it now...

THURSDAY:Swimming with Julie - 2750 meters // Rest // Bar Method Boulder
FRIDAY: Swimming Masters - 2800 meters // Rest // Bar Method Boulder
SATURDAY: Rest // Bar Method Chicago Loop // lots and lots of walking :)
SUNDAY: Run 2:07.03, 13.1 miles, Chicago Half Marathon with Marleen :) , 9:41 pace
TOTAL: 17 miles recovery week
